Personal Life
The interview is the test, where your personality traits are
judged, where you are assessed via questions relating to your personal life,
interests, living with some other basic, complex, and counter questions. To get
started, interview questions at ISSB can be divided into categories as below:

Questions from your personal life
Prepare all questions related to your personal life, the
interviewing officer will give special stress to the many times you might have
seen during your childhood, if you ever lived in a hostel, away from your
parents, etc. You remember the form you filled when got selected for ISSB and on
your first day at ISSB? that form contains nearly every important question
regarding your personal life. But you should not take it as a negative sign
rather answer each question calmly and provide them with the original facts and
figures. You should not feel ashamed of being poor or if you have faced a hard
time in your life rather it's a plus from others that you have made up this
point with such difficulties in your life.
Some of the basic questions they’ll ask from you are:
Family background
Anniversary date and year of your parents.
Was this the first marriage of your parents?
Your father's occupation.
Your mother's occupation.
No. of siblings (sisters, brothers) and your no.
Ever quarreled with your siblings? if yes on what issues?
Did you ever help your younger siblings in their studies?
You ever felt of being alone (if you are the only child of
your parents).
Ever wished to have a sister too (if you don’t have one).
Why your sister isn’t married yet (if she is elder and in age
near to marriage).
Your family's total income.
Your grandfather's occupation.
and many more, obviously you know yourself and your family
more than me so it will never be a problem if what you have stated in your
information form is all true.
Academic Career
Your academic career is the same as your personal life, your
academic life span tells a lot about, were you good at studies, sports, you
discontinued your studies somewhere in between? if yes then why so what were
the circumstances.
Why are you good at some subjects and why bad or even worse
in some? (I was really bad at mathematics, hope you are not).
Remember what you write in your ISSB form and not to repel
with the information you already provided as another purpose of the interview
is to verify your provided information once more.
Some of the major questions include:
Marks in matric, SSC (Secondary School, O’levels)
Percentage of marks in matric (% Percentage)
Marks in Inter, HSSC (FA / FSc, Higher Secondary School,
A’levels)
Percentage of inter (% Percentage)
Address of your School, College, or University.
What subjects you are good at, why so?
What subjects you don’t like and why?

Time.
Space.
Speed
for example, Two cars are moving in the opposite direction
with a speed of 120Km/h and are 500 meters away, how much time will they take
to pass each other?
Trick: Most of the questions asked are based on the tables
of different fractions some of which include: 1/2, 3/4, 1/4, table of 0.25,
0.5, 0.75, 1.25, etc.
Physics Questions
Pascal's law.
Boyle’s law.

Charles’s law

Social Life Questions
Social life is all about how you behave socially, how you
live your life outside you home with your family friends blah blah, and yes,
what you do on Facebook as well nowadays (this must be a valid and rock-solid
question nowadays).
The interviewing officer will ask about your friends, no of
friends, besties (best friends), and the habit of them you like a lot.
Some of the generic questions they might ask are as follows:
No of your friends. Male, female, ratio.Best friend. Some good
habits of your best friend, Some bad. Amount of your Facebook/social friends
(this was asked from one of my friends in PMA 127)Males/ female, and some others
as well.
Pakistan Studies
Nothing can be more important than the country you are going
to fight for in forces, and this exactly elaborates on the importance of
Pakistan Studies when it comes to ISSB.
It will be worth mentioning that once I meet an army officer
who was appointed as an interviewing officer at ISSB Kohat that time and in his
briefing for the preparation of ISSB he mentioned to me that the statistics,
weather conditions, border length (often asked) and every detail you may found
about our homeland, Pakistan should be on your fingertips.
I will never recommend a candidate who doesn’t even know
what's the border length of ours with Afghanistan and what it is called. “Wo
shakhas Mulk ki hifazaat kya khaak Kare ga jis ko ye nahi pata hamari
Afghanistan se sarhad kitni hai?”.
I hope I have made my point clear, else than this the topic name itself describes the purpose.
Expected Questions:
Border Length between Pakistan and Afghanistan?
What is the Radcliffe Line?
History of Pakistan Armed forces
The force you are going to join wants you to know at least
the bases on which it propagates and grown if not the whole details for sure and
that is why interviewing officers always ask questions related to Pakistan
Armed Forces, the majority ask about Nishan-e-Haider and the names of
recipients of this awards.
You can find the list of the martyrs who were awarded
Nishan-e-Haider here for your preparation.
Also, some other questions can be asked as well but the majority
of the interviewing officers stick to the recipients of Nishan-e-Haider and
Inter-Services Ranks. View Inter-Services Rank List here.
Expected questions are:
When Captain Muhammad Sarwar was awarded by Nishan-e-Haider?
Army Captain is equal to which naval officer rank?
Name of the Chief Commanding officers of Pakistan Army, Air
Force, and Navy.
Importance of armed forces.
ISI is an abbreviation of what?
Role of our forces in Indo-Pak wars.
General Awareness
Armed personal should not only be sound when it comes to his
body but should also act accordingly when it comes to his mind.
He should know not only war tactics but should also keep an
eye on what's going on and where and that is what ISSB requires from you. It
doesn’t mean that you should know everything ever made found or lived on earth
but it elaborates the meaning of being aware generally.
This will sound pretty vague in an interview when you’ll be
telling the officer that sir I have done my intermediate in Maths and I have no
idea what read blood cells are or how blood is circulated in our body.
General Knowledge Questions
In ISSB questions regarding general knowledge are often
asked keeping in view the age, experience, and social circle of the candidate.
A rough estimate tells us that only 10% is of General Knowledge.
At ISSB interviewing officer will mainly stick to the following
information:
Name of Countries and their capitals. Geolocation
(Geographical location of countries)
Name the current president, leading political parties.
Current international situation.
Expected Questions:
Where Germany is located?
Tell the names of three countries located in Central Asia?
Religion Questions
Expected Questions:
Difference between Hijri and Nabwii?
No of Surah’s in Quran, the total count of Madni Surat’s and
Makki.
Total no of Ayats.
Which Surat is called Bab-ul-Quran.
In which hijri Ghazwa-e-Badar was fought?
and many more …
And people with a religion other than Islam, the
interviewing officer might ask you something about your own beliefs so get
yourself prepared. We have never encountered such a situation so are unable to
justify.
Current affairs
Important events occurred in Pakistan and at International
scope during the few last years.
Our foreign policy, current political standings, important
activities happening all around the world.
Expected Questions:
We are unable to provide you a specimen this time as current
affairs keep on changing and that is a reason they are known as current
affairs. We apologize for your inconvenience.
Important Note
Please keep in mind that the questions can be asked from another
medium as well, this is to give you a rough picture that what is asked at an
ISSB interview.
